Gail Ardery
Gail Ardery, research manager in Health Services Research, was recently selected as the Distinguished Research Administrator for 2016. The award is presented by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development and recognizes outstanding administrative efforts in direct support of research.

Ardery joined the research team of Barry Carter, Patrick E. Keefe Professor in Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, in 2003, and has served as the Clinical Services Coordinator since 2009. She has served simultaneously as the research manager and the clinical services coordinator for participating institutions for four funded NIH grants.

As Carter stated, “Simply put, she is the most valuable member of my research team. She created the complex budgets for 4 funded National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants. Gail assisted with all grant applications including the text, resources, budget justifications, consent forms, protocols and data, and safety monitoring procedures.”

In addition, Ardery prepares and submits all quarterly enrollment and yearly progress reports. She has assisted with writing or reviewing most of the team’s manuscripts, and is a co-author on 16 publications from Carter’s group and another 12 from the research team where she worked prior to working with Carter.

Ardery is a University of Iowa graduate and 18 year employee. Outside of the workplace, she runs or walks with her dog, Zoe. She is also an avid reader and a self-described political junkie.
