The committee bears primary responsibility to:

• Recommend procedures and policies to ensure that the college's operations, especially those carried out in laboratories are conducted in a safe responsible manner.
• Ensure that the college is in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations governing research, laboratory, and office safety.

Membership includes a graduate student. The committee reports to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Affairs.
