It may not feel like it outside, but the University of Iowa’s Homecoming celebrations are just around the corner. This year, the College of Pharmacy’s annual activities will be bigger and more significant than ever, and all alumni, faculty, staff, and friends are encouraged to join the fun!

The weekend will kick off with the Osterhaus Medal for Lifetime Achievement Symposium and Alumni Awards Ceremony on Sept. 29. We will honor the Osterhaus Medal for Lifetime Achievement recipient, as well as the Distinguished, Honorary, and Genesis award recipients.

  • Osterhaus Medal for Lifetime Achievement - Patrick Keefe, '69 BSPh
  • Distinguished Alumni Award - Michael Akers, '72 PhD and Chris Decker, '88 BSPh
  • Honorary Alumni Award - Melissa Corrigan and Bernard Sorofman
  • Genesis Award - Deanna McDanel, '01 PharmD and Francisco Velazquez, '03 PhD

Immediately following the symposium and alumni awards ceremony, you’re invited to the site of the new pharmacy building for the official College of Pharmacy Building Groundbreaking Ceremony. With a scheduled completion date in 2019, the new facility will provide optimal spaces to advance pharmaceutical sciences and educate future pharmacists – ultimately impacting healthcare across Iowa and around the world.

After enjoying the UI’s annual homecoming parade on Sept. 30, please make plans to join us for the Alumni, Family, and Friends Celebration at the Sheraton Iowa City. We’ll have fun for the whole family, including complimentary appetizers and a cash bar. The classes of 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1985, 1991, 1995, 2001, 2006, and 2011 will be recognized.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the college will again host a pre-game tailgate in the triangle lot across from Stella’s, starting at 9:00 am.
