A record number of University of Iowa students have been awarded Fulbright U.S. Student Program grants to conduct research, attend graduate school, undertake creative projects, or serve as English teaching assistants abroad in 2019–20, with an additional four students selected as alternates. UI College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy student Michael Parisi Mercado is among them. He is the second student from the college to receive a Fulbright, which he will use to conduct research that will help Romanian pharmacists improve the health and care of patients living with HIV and/or AIDS.
