Staff Spotlight is an initiative sponsored by the College of Pharmacy Staff Council to celebrate the incredibly talented staff within the college and to facilitate awareness and understanding of the unique individuals who make up the pharmacy family. Staff members in a variety of roles and departments will be featured on a rotating basis.

This month, we are learning about Ian Nguyen, a project manager in the Non-Sterile Products Department at UI Pharmaceuticals.

Tell us about your role at the College of Pharmacy.

I am a project manager in the Non-Sterile Products Department at UI Pharmaceuticals; which means that I supervise the production of pharmaceutical preparations under cGMPs, oversee production staff, and provide additional training as needed for specific projects. I collaborate with clients to develop a workable formulation through discussions, providing technical consultative services, or by the manufacture of small-scale development activities to better assure a successful large-scale production batch.

What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?

Airplane, the actual flight is not bad, it’s just the airport, and the waiting…

What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer?

Go to the waterpark with my son. Enjoy the outdoors.

Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?

Europe. I’d really like to go to France, Italy and Greece. I’d love to visit the countryside, talk to the folks there.

Tell us about your photo.

This is me with my wife, Julie, and my son, Alexander.
