Joanne Reiland Wakeman, PhD, joined the Product Development team at Ardea Biosciences in 2009. In her role at Ardea, she has developed solid oral formulations for preclinical and clinical drug products, including a patented (patent pending) formulation planned for a commercial product. Prior to joining Ardea, Wakeman completed her PhD in Pharmaceutics at the University of Iowa studying drug transport under Professor Maureen Donovan. In preparation for her PhD work, she interned in Product Development working on formulation of parenteral biologics at Biogen-Idec in 2003. Wakeman received her bachelor's degree in Biochemistry with honors and highest distinction from the University of Iowa in 2002.
Kelly Brock, '02 PharmD, is the president of KB Pharmacy Solutions, Inc., a healthcare consulting company focused on advancing the profession of pharmacy that she founded in 2010. Her passion for teaching and helping pharmacists expand patient care services is the driving force behind her company’s mission. Her career path has provided her with opportunities to work in community pharmacies, primary care clinics, an urgent care center, and a specialty clinic. Along with her pharmacy practice experience, Brock has always had an interest in research and teaching. Currently, Brock is serving as a community coordinator for Project IMPACT: Diabetes, a national initiative that aims to improve care for patients with diabetes.
