Metabolism pathways throughout the body

Requirements for the Certificate of Drug Disposition and Metabolism - Enroll here.

What will I learn?

Students will build upon a solid basic science foundation to extend their knowledge about techniques used in drug disposition and metabolism.

  • Evaluate quantitative parameters used to describe drug disposition patterns
  • The molecular basis for drug action
  • Identify common chemical properties and biochemical transformations that result in toxic responses
  • Biochemical pathways affected by environmental, drug, food, and accidental exposures
  • The role of drug development in the regulatory approval process used in the United States
  • The drug discovery and development process used in the United States for drug product approval

What prerequisite courses do I need?

Note: Not all prerequisite courses have to be completed to enroll in the certificate.  As students complete prerequisites, they are encouraged to begin certificate coursework.  If you have already completed some certificate courses, those courses will apply toward the certificate even if you have not yet enrolled.

  • Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2 semesters)
  • Calculus (2 semesters - Pharmacometrics Track)
  • Calculus (1 semester - Toxicology Track)
  • Foundations of Biology
  • Human Physiology (1 Semester)
  • Organic Chemistry II w/Lab
  • Statistics (1 semester)
