Preceptors RaShauna Applewhite, ‘10 PharmD, and Lane Nelson, go above and beyond to make sure that students are exposed to a variety of aspects of community pharmacy, according to one nomination. As part of a large chain organization, this practice site provides students experience in handling specialty products such as ostomy, oxygen therapy, and surgical supplies. They also continue to hone their skills related to immunizations, including flu and pneumonia. Students in this practice setting provide patient training on blood glucose monitors. Preceptors guide students through various aspects of patient counseling, and demonstrate the value and expertise that community pharmacies provide.
