Gary Albers is president/CEO of CarePro Health Services based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. CarePro is an employee-owned, multi-service line health care company with four groupings of businesses and 280 employees. The four groups consist of pharmacy, home care, home medical, and healthy living. Included under the CarePro umbrella are retail pharmacies, a home infusion pharmacy, an integrative wellness pharmacy, a compounding pharmacy, and a corporate wellness company. Also included in CarePro are a home health care agency, a medical supply and equipment company, a continence care business, and two Medicare-certified diabetes education centers. CarePro has long been a leader in pharmacy in the provision of patient-centered pharmaceutical care, medication therapy management, immunizations, adherence packaging, and many other cognitive services. Mr. Albers has been with CarePro since January 1983, and the president/CEO since 2004. CarePro provides health care services throughout Iowa and into adjacent areas of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri.
Prior to CarePro, he spent seven years as a staff pharmacist at Osterhaus Pharmacy in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Over the years Mr. Albers has been active in the Iowa Pharmacy Association serving on many committees and twice on the Board of Trustees. He was an original member of the eastern Iowa Certified Pharmaceutical Care Network. His professional memberships include IPA, APHA, NACDS and NCPA. His preceptor duties have included undergraduate and residency responsibilities.
He attended the University of Iowa and graduated from the College of Pharmacy in 1975, serving as senior class president his last year.
Gary Albers grew up near Holstein in northwest Iowa. From 1983 to the current time, he and his family have lived in the Cedar Rapids area. His family consists of his wife Diane and son Tyler, who recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa.
Currently his community involvement consists of serving on a number of advisory boards/committees including the Linn County Community Services Advisory Board and the Linn County General Assistance Advisory Committee. He is co-chair of the Worksite Strategy of the Cedar Rapids Blue Zone Project. He is proud to tell you that the CarePro Main Campus is one of the first worksites to become Blue Zone Worksite Certified.
