Biography

Kathleen E. Horner, Pharm.D., BCPS is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Ambulatory Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She received her BS degree in Biology from Saint Louis University and received her Pharm.D. degree from the University of Iowa. She completed an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency with Emphasis in Primary Care and an ASHP-accredited Specialized Residency in Primary Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her areas of practice include anticoagulation, pharmacotherapy, and geriatrics clinics and she precepts pharmacy students and residents in these clinical areas. She has received certification from the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties in Pharmacotherapy. She is a member of ACCP, ASHP, and IPA.

Clinical Narrative

Dr. Horner is an Assistant Professor (Clinical) at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Ambulatory Care at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Her primary practice areas include the Anticoagulation, General Internal Medicine, Pharmacotherapy and Geriatrics Clinics. She serves as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and student pharmacists in these clinical areas. Dr. Horner received her Pharm.D. degree from the University of Iowa and completed ASHP-accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residencies in Primary Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. In addition to her areas of practice, Dr. Horner’s professional interests also include cardiovascular disease, diabetes and osteoporosis
