Laura Knockel, PharmD, BCACP

Dr. Knockel is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She teaches in the Pharmacy Practice Lab, Foundations of Pharmacy Practice, and Applications of Pharmacy Practice course series. She received her PharmD from the University of Iowa and completed a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Practice residency with the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dr. Knockel is board certified in ambulatory care. Her professional interests include advancing community pharmacy practice, diabetes education, immunizations, and smoking cessation. She is an active member of the Iowa Pharmacy Association and is a past member of the Board of Trustees.
Dr. Knockel's research focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning. She is also interested in advancing community pharmacy practice, medication therapy management, and immunizations.
Dr. Knockel is a community pharmacist with Hartig Drug in Iowa City, Iowa, where she is involved with dispensing, administering immunizations, and providing medication therapy management to a diverse population. Prior to joining the faculty, she practiced at Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Iowa City for 10 years, where she helped implement an AADE-accredited diabetes self-management education program.
