Tom Veale grew up in and graduated from high school in Boone, Iowa. In 1980, Veale graduated from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
After graduation, Veale moved to southern California to work in the insurance industry. He served in a number of finance and accounting positions with Western Employers Insurance Company and then Transamerica Insurance.
In 1987, he left Transamerica to pursue a Master of Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University. While at Loyola, he worked as a consultant. Eventually, he ended up working exclusively for John Anderson, a Los Angeles billionaire businessman and philanthropist who passed away in 2011. As an MBA student, Veale developed the business plan for what today is TRISTAR Insurance Group.
Veale has led TRISTAR into becoming one of the nation’s largest diversified insurance services firm with thirty offices and nearly a thousand employees throughout the United States. Today the firm has operations in property/casualty claims administration, managed care services, and health benefits.
Veale is a member of the City of Hope National Insurance Industry Council where he serves as chairman for the national “Hoops for Hope” event. He also is Chair of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy Executive Leadership Board.
