Pharmacist is responsible for the review and interpretation of physician orders, dispensing of medications, clinical monitoring of drug therapies, and accurate and timely drug information while complying with all legal and practice standards. The pharmacist supervises and directs supportive personnel. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director. A Staff Pharmacist must be able to evaluate different types of patients and their special needs for drug therapy.
Provide staff (medical and nursing) education and support for pharmacological needs. Departments included, Oncology, Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical, and JCHC Clinics.
Receives and carries out medication orders in the inpatient and outpatient setting within the Health Center. Contacts providers for medication clarification as needed.
Prepares or oversee IV medication preparation including chemotherapy, and IV solutions while maintaining proper aseptic technique.
Assist in clinical monitoring of patients on anticoagulation, antibiotic, and diabetic treatments.
Assist in employee health with vaccination and documentation.
Patient education for inpatients and community education for diabetics, pulmonary, oncology, and discharged inpatients. Outstanding communication skills a must.
Assist in Medication reconciliation process for patients.
Assist in precepting for pharmacy students from U of I and Drake college of pharmacy, as well as pharmacy technician students from Indian Hills Community College
Facilitating ordering and use of medications in the 340B program.
Doctorate or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Current Iowa license in effect.
Excellent customer service to both internal and external customers through positive communication, team work, and professionalism. Attention to detail for medication management with focus on quality and safety.
Complies with all JCHC Policies & procedures, Iowa Board of Pharmacy rules, and CMS regulations.
