A service event for APhA-ASP with the Iowa City community's organization, Proteus, will be held on May 5. Proteus provides primary care to migrant and seasonal farm workers across the state of Iowa. Mobile clinics for the workers are held throughout the summer, and many of the workers do not have transportation to fill a prescription, so they bring as many medications as they can to the mobile clinics.
In preparation for the large number of patients who will be seen and will need medications, they will need to bottle formulary medications in bulk. Pharmacy students are encouraged to attend and assist with this process. Student volunteers will be assigned one or two drugs each and will be responsible for counting and bottling them. For more information, please contact Laura Meadow.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact in advance at or .
