Topic: An Introduction to Qualitative Research

Lecture Description: Heather Schacht Reisinger, a medical anthropologist, introduces the characteristics, methodologies, and logic of qualitative resarch for health and health services research.

About the Speaker: Heather Schacht Reisinger, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine Division. She is also Associate Director for Research and a Core Investigator at the Center for Comprehensive Access and Delivery Research and Evaluation (CADRE) at the Iowa City VA Health Care System.

Dr. Reisinger’s research focuses on infection control and prevention and telemedicine, particularly the organization processes and individual behaviors that promote implementation of interventions in these fields. In addition, she has led qualitative components on several multi-site VA, AHRQ, NIH, and CDC studies on topics including substance abuse treatment, hypertension, MI and ACS, ICU telemedicine, and infection control.
