One pharmacy student per trip will be selected to travel to Jamaica for 10 to 14 days in September (during rotation cycle 4). There are pre- and post-travel elements on rotation with the general pediatrics service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
As a student pharmacist, I had never felt as empowered and fulfilled as I did during my time with the children in Jamaica."
~Alumna Kelsey Bayliss
Rotation participants treat children 18 years old or less as part of a larger medical mission run through the Issa Trust Foundation. The foundation is a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing health and other services to promote well-being and development for the people of Jamaica.
Participants fly into Montego Bay. Lodging is held at Couples Resorts.
