The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy proudly reports that in August 2012, three major financial gifts were announced. These gifts, from alumni and former faculty, will help to support programs and initiatives in the college.

The Stephen and Teresa Shibley Berge Pharmacy Education Scholarship was established to support one or more annual scholarships to deserving doctor of pharmacy students. Stephen (‘73 BSPh, ’78 PhD) and Teresa (‘74 BSPh) have been generous supporters of the college and the University of Iowa for over 25 years.

The Dr. Joseph G. Cannon MIKI (Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa) Founders Fund was established by the late Dr. Cannon’s wife, Lynne, with the intent of providing support to medicinal and natural products chemistry graduate students. Cannon’s career spanned nearly 50 years in the College of Pharmacy’s medicinal and natural products chemistry (MNPC) division. He co-founded the MIKI MNPC graduate student meeting to provide graduate students experience in presenting their research at a scientific meeting.

Dr. J. Keith Guillory recently committed charitable annuity support for the Keith Guillory Pharmaceutics Graduate Fellowship. The fellowship was originally established by Guillory’s friends and former students to support the recruitment of outstanding students in the graduate program in pharmaceutics. Guillory served as chair of the division of pharmaceutics from 1964-1994, and is a Professor Emeritus at the College of Pharmacy. The fellowship is intended to honor Dr. Guillory for years of dedication and energy in educating and mentoring students. He has been a donor to this fund since it was established in 1999, and has also generously contributed to the college for over 30 years.
