In November 2012, Todd and Jon Thompson (both BSPh ’98) made Iowa history by opening the first true tele-pharmacy in the state, utilizing TelePharm technology. TelePharm was recently featured in the Corridor Business Journal.
The American Pharmacists Association members recently elected Matthew Osterhaus, '80 BSPh, FASCP, FAPhA, as President-elect. Osterhaus co-owns and operates Osterhaus Pharmacy in Maquoketa, Iowa. He is an APhA Trustee, serving on the Finance and Government Affairs Committees.
William Doucette, PhD, College of Pharmacy professor and head of the division of health services research has been named the recipient of the Deborah K. Veale Professorship in Healthcare Policy. This professorship aims to “actively involve the pharmacy profession in the creation of health care policies that will benefit our practice settings as well as our patients,” according to Debbie Veale.
Jordan Cohen, vice president for research and economic development and former dean of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, was recently profiled by the Iowa City Press-Citizen. Cohen will be stepping down from his administrator role later this summer.
