Dr. Kelly received his BSPh, PharmD and MS degrees from the University of Iowa. He served on the faculties of Southwest Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma Colleges of Pharmacy as a clinical specialist in psychiatric pharmacy practice. Dr. Kelly joined the faculty of the University of Iowa, College of Pharmacy in 1994 and worked as a clinical pharmacist for the Department of Family Medicine in the Carver College of Medicine until November 2004 when he was appointed Associate Dean for Professional Education at the College of Pharmacy. He continues to be involved in the training of pharmacy students through his teaching in the College of Pharmacy. He also works closely with faculty from all of the health science colleges in developing the university’s offerings in interprofessional education.
Research interests include the screening, identification and treatment of psychiatric disorders in elderly patients in primary care settings, appropriate use of medications for the management of behavioral symptoms and neuropsychiatric symptoms in individuals with dementia, and medication use patterns in K-12 schools.
