How to Apply:

For the PHARMACEUTICS or DRUG DISCOVERY AND EXPERIMENTAL THERAPEUTICS PhD Programs: BioMedCAS

  1. Complete the BioMedCAS application and pay the application fee.

  2. Follow the directions for uploading supporting documents. Supporting documents include:

    -Statement of Purpose, 
    -CV (resume), 
    -Transcripts, 
    -and 3 letters of recommendation
    -For international students, please include: TOEFL, iELTS, or DuoLingo test result

     

For HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH PhD Program only: University of Iowa Graduate Application

  1. Complete a University of Iowa Graduate Admissions application.
  2. After you complete the application and pay the application fee ($60 for domestic, and $100 for international), you will receive a HawkID and Login. 
  3. Login to the University of Iowa Admissions portal. Upload supporting documents there.

Supporting Documents:

  • Transcripts (Minimum GPA is 3.0)
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • TOEFL, iELTS, or DuoLingo test scores
  • Minimum DuoLingo: 105
  • Minimum TOEFL: 83
  • Minimum iELTS: 7.0 with no individual score below 6.0
  • The GRE test is optional. 
  • It is not necessary to submit a TOEFL, IELTS, or DuoLingo score if you have a U.S. Master's Degree
  • It is not necessary to submit a WES Transcript evaluation.

Requirements and Deadlines

  • U.S. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree from another country as determined by the University of Iowa Office of Admissions.
  • It is not necessary to have earned a Master's degree to be eligible to apply to the PhD program.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
The early application deadline is Feb. 1, 2025. Final application deadline is March 15, 2025.
