As teachers, experts, specialists, and mentors, our preceptors provide learning experiences outside the standard classroom. Preceptors allow student pharmacists a glimpse into the daily life of a health care provider. They assist students in the application of their knowledge and skills in direct patient care and other practice settings. Whether in the community pharmacy, the intensive care unit of a hospital, an emergency department or corporate pharmacy management, preceptors are active teachers of the hands-on experiences student pharmacists desire. Preceptors are welcomed from all pharmacy practice settings and can host experiences ranging from brief observational encounters to 5-week intensive practice experiences.
