On February 7-9, students, faculty, and alumni from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy attended the Iowa Pharmacy Association/Collaborative Education Institute’s Midwest Pharmacy Expo in Altoona, Ia.
The Expo is a three-day continuing education event where students, practicing pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians can attend educational sessions and further their professional development. Over 400 people from around the Midwest attended this year’s event.
The College of Pharmacy had a booth at the Exhibit Showcase and Opening Reception, greeting alumni, friends, faculty, and students that were in attendance. The College of Pharmacy also joined with University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics staffing a residency booth to answer any questions alumni and students may have about residencies.
Four College of Pharmacy faculty members presented continuing education sessions at the Expo – Assistant Professor (Clinical) Emily Beckett, Associate Professor (Clinical) Brett Heintz, Associate Dean for Clinical Education and Associate Professor (Clinical) Michael Brownlee, and Associate Professor (Clinical) John Swegle. Community residents Wendy Lantaff and Janis Rood also presented.
