Despite the recent cold temperatures, snow, and ice, the UI College of Pharmacy building continues to progress and the move-in date is still winter break (December 2019–January 2020). The recent winter weather did slow down the exterior skin installation and some finished activities on the interior.
The atrium space in the north wing is starting to take shape with high drywall walls being framed and constructed using a boom lift. The ceiling of the atrium (lobby) is almost 50 feet above the lobby level! There are many activities in this space, yet it will be one of the last areas completed since it is also a main project access point.
The south windows are being prepared for final water leakage testing and the exterior skin (terracotta) is almost complete on the north side. The Team Based Learning Center is being laser scanned for the finish millwork countertops, and University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals (UIP) walls have been framed.
Millwork installation is taking place this month on the third floor north, and first and second floors in the south tower. Additional drywall will be installed in Active and Team Based Learning Centers. The installation of data cable will begin on the first floor. Tile in the restroom (floor and wall) is complete on the first two floors and will continue on the third, fourth and fifth floors.
The enclosure completion date is estimated to be the first part of June. Miron Construction projects the substantial completion date (non-UIP) will be November 5, 2019.
