It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Associate Professor Emeritus Ting-Fong Chin, '62 PhD. Born in China, Chin began graduate school at the UI College of Pharmacy in 1958. After graduation in 1962, he moved to Missouri to work in industry and returned to Iowa City one year later to accept a professorship at the UI College of Pharmacy. Chin was a faculty member at the College from 1963 to 1997.

During his long tenure, Chin ran a lab to develop treatments for cancer, AIDs, and other diseases and trained and mentored many students. He is remembered for hosting many international students, who like him, traveled far from home in pursuit of an education and a better life.

He passed away on August 11, 2021, in Laguna Woods, California.
