Doctor of Pharmacy student Milagro Michels-Cordao is being honored this spring with a 2022 Diversity Catalyst Award. The Catalyst Awards recognize university community members who engage in D.E.I initiatives and promote the development of an inclusive and diverse campus community. Michels-Cordao has been deeply involved with the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), first as a participant and later as a fellow. She is also a COVID-19 Immunization Clinic Coordinator with the UI Mobile Clinic, a traveling health clinic that provides free health screenings, prevention, and education to underserved populations in and around Iowa City. The full story may be found here.
“I have been wonderfully privileged to have the right roadblocks removed to stand here with you today,” Michels-Cordao told a group of hundreds of state and local leaders. “And that is a lifelong goal of mine: To help others remove their roadblocks.”
