Biography

Following graduation in 1962, I accepted my first job in a clinic pharmacy in Fairbanks, Alaska. I met my husband and we had one child, a daughter. We moved to California in 1966. I worked for Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco and San Rafeal. In 1974 my husband accepted a position in Honolulu, Hawaii, and we relocated. I worked for St. Francis Hospital part time for a couple of years, then accepted a full-time position as staff pharmacist at Kauikeolani Children's Hospital. That hospital merged with Kapiolani Hospital (a maternity hospital) in 1978 to form Kapiolani Medical for Women and Children. I was Director of Pharmacy for several years. I retired in 1994, but within six months accepted a position as part time pharmacist at Wahiawa General Hospital. I worked in that capacity for 24 years, finally retiring in 2019. I was active in our state pharmacy associations, serving on the boards of directors and as Coordinator of Continuing Education. I thoroughly enjoyed my career and appreciate the excellent education I received at the University of Iowa. I was always active in the pharmacy associations, serving on the board of directors of both the Hawaii Pharmacists Association and Hawaii Hospital Pharmacy Association. I served as president of each association. I was Coordinator of Continuing Education for many years, assuring our educational programs met the criteria for certification.
