Hoyt is currently a PGY1 pharmacy resident in the ambulatory-based practice setting at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. Palliative Care Certificate Impact: One unique aspect about my residency program is the opportunity to do pain consults. The pharmacy department manages all pain consults in the hospital, so we get to work with providers and give recommendations to optimize medication regimes. I feel more confident being put in difficult-to-solve cases and speaking to patients to find the best way to treat their pain. The training provided by the certificate program also helped me to see how I can apply palliative care principles to all patient care situations.
