Emily Vyverberg
Emily Vyverberg, PharmD Class of 2009

Emily's career has thrived since graduating from the UI College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2009. She has been a practicing pharmacist for a local community pharmacy since graduation and is an assistant professor in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program at the University of Dubuque.

She credits much of her success to the education received and the meaningful relationships formed while at the UI College of Pharmacy. Vyverberg comments:

“The UI College of Pharmacy has a long history of providing exceptional education to student pharmacists and the dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly to ensure student success.

One of my most positive experiences in pharmacy school is the relationships I formed with both my fellow students and professors alike. These relationships have turned into a vast network of colleagues that has facilitated my success in my career, as well as provided me with meaningful personal relationships that add tremendous value to my life.”

From Dubuque, Iowa, Vyverberg chose to complete her pharmacy education at the University of Iowa because of the excellent academic training provided and the strong sense of community on campus that is intrinsic to the state of Iowa. According to Vyverberg:

“The College is dedicated to providing exceptional pharmacy education while creating a community that allows students to excel and succeed. There is a great sense of "family" created within the program.

I chose to live in Iowa because of the abundant sense of community and the spirit of giving that exists in the state, which aligns with how I choose to practice my profession.”

Vyverberg continues to be engaged with the College beyond graduation by serving as a member of the College’s young alumni board, Genesis Board. The board’s mission is to provide opportunities that enhance the student experience and facilitate student success.
