University of Iowa College of Pharmacy joined forces with other University colleges and departments specializing in health sciences for a day of educating lawmakers in Des Moines. The annual Health Sciences Day at the Capitol was held on April 5.

Several students, faculty, and staff joined their colleagues from the Carver College of Medicine, College of Public Health, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, College of Dentistry, and College of Nursing.

Nate Harold, a PharmD candidate from the class of 2012, said, “I realized how important it is to keep our public officials aware of the ways pharmacy is growing and changing in Iowa. It is easy to let our efforts go unseen and fall to the background. I was able to witness the importance of keeping our accomplishment in the minds of our representatives so we are able to gain the support we need to further our efforts.”

UI Health Sciences Day provides legislators and staff the opportunity to learn about health education, discoveries, cutting-edge research and patient care at Iowa’s preeminent health sciences campus.
