The University of Iowa American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) student chapter team has qualified for the quarterfinals of the ACCP Clinical Pharmacy Challenge. Out of a field of 108 teams, they have advanced through four online rounds to reach the quarterfinals.

The Clinical Pharmacy Challenge is a team-based competition, wherein teams of three students compete against teams from other schools and colleges of pharmacy in a “quiz bowl”–type format.

Preliminary rounds of the national competition were conducted virtually in September. The quarterfinal, semifinal, and final rounds are being held live at the ACCP Global Conference on Clinical Pharmacy in San Francisco, California, Oct. 17-19, 2015

Each round consists of questions offered in the three distinct segments: trivia/lightning, clinical case, and Jeopardy-style. The content used in each segment has been developed and reviewed by an expert panel of clinical pharmacy practitioners and educators.

Congratulations to the UI College of Pharmacy team: Tyler Sandahl, Cari Stoneking, and Sara Wirth, with alternates Jessica Goff and Shiny Parsai, on this wonderful accomplishment. Stuart Pitman, clinical assistant professor, has been helping to prepare the team over the summer months as the faculty designee and coach/coordinator for the UI ACCP student chapter's clinical pharmacy challenge team.
