On April 29, the College of Pharmacy hosted two volunteer boards that play a significant role in advising Dean Donald Letendre and College of Pharmacy leadership, and engaging with students and alumni.

The College of Pharmacy Executive Leadership Board was established in 2010 to advise the College of Pharmacy as it develops and works towards its strategic goals and visions. The members of the board meet periodically to discuss the college's strategic plan, changes in the curriculum, trends in pharmacy practice, fundraising, and facilities.

The Genesis Board was formed in 2014 to complement the programs and professional development students receive while attending the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. The mission of the Genesis Board is to provide opportunities that enhance the student experience and facilitate student success.

During their recent visit to Iowa City, the groups toured the Operator Performance Laboratory at the OPL Hangar Iowa City Airport. The OPL conducts research on human-in-the-loop and intelligent autonomous systems to increase efficiency, inter-operability, and safety.

The Executive Leadership Board had the opportunity to hear from speakers, including:

• Dawn Kluber, associate dean of the Executive MBA program, who discussed the parameters of a potential Tippie College of Business certificate for PharmD students.
• Lucinda Maine, CEO and vice president of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, who discussed AACPs four key points on the organizations draft strategic plan. 

The Genesis Board spent much of their day engaging in small group discussions. These discussions centered around engaging current students and providing them the support they need for success.

Each group also held a roundtable discussion, during which members discuss key themes and trends in their various areas of expertise.
