The college is full of excitement and activity again with the 2018-2019 school year underway!

On August 18, 100 Doctor of Pharmacy students were officially welcomed to the profession of pharmacy during the annual White Coat Ceremony. At the ceremony, students recited the oath of the profession and were coated by members of the college's Genesis Board. Dean Letendre welcomed the students to the pharmacy family by asking them why they chose to attend pharmacy school and encouraged them to keep that reason forefront in their minds. The event marked the end of the course, "Engagement: Professional Skills and Values," during which students were oriented to the college and curriculum.

The PharmD class of 2022 is comprised of 62 women and 38 men. 80 percent of the incoming students are from Iowa, with students coming from eight other states and eight other countries.

The college also welcomed 12 new graduate students for the 2018-2019 school year. Three are pursuing doctoral degrees in Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences, five in Pharmaceutics, two in Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry and one in Health Services Research. In addition, one student is pursuing a master's degree in Pharmaceutics. The students had a tour of the college and other health sciences buildings on August 13, followed by a welcome reception with college faculty, staff, and current graduate students.
