Pharmacy students part of the leadership organization Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) hosted the first ever Run For Hope Walk/Run on Sunday, September 16. The event helped to raise money for the nonprofit SafeNetRx, a program that puts free and low-cost medications in the hands of people who would otherwise go without. Over $2500 was raised, and according to CEO Jon-Michael Rosmann, every dollar raised helps to purchase $10.00 worth of medication for low income and qualifying patients. "The amount of support we received from the community was overwhelming! I am so grateful to everyone who came out on Sunday both to participate and volunteer. Run for Hope would not have happened without our dedicated volunteers. SafeNetRx provides a valuable service to our community, and we were happy to help them further their cause," said Courtney Dawson, event organizer, Doctor of Pharmacy student, and president of PLS.
