The week of September 23-29 marks the University of Iowa’s 100th Anniversary of Homecoming festivities, and students at the College of Pharmacy are taking part in the university-wide celebration.

The festivities began with the United Way 5K on Sunday afternoon. On Monday, students campus-wide are called on to donate blood. Tuesday is the annual Ruckus at the Rec competition, where participants from various student organizations take part in games like tug-of-war, volleyball, and dodgeball. On Friday, September 28, the College of Pharmacy will be represented in the annual Homecoming Parade at 5:45 pm.

Additionally, pharmacy students participated in a Penny Wars competition between classes, with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. Through September 21, the college took part in the Cold Stone Competition, with the creative flavor of Gopher Takedown.

At the end of the week, points for each of these events are tallied, and a winning student group is announced. In both 2010 and 2011, the College of Pharmacy placed first overall in the Homecoming competitions.
