University of Iowa College of Pharmacy students are helping keep unwanted, unused, and expired medications out of the state’s water supplies. As participants in the Iowa Pharmacy Association’s TakeAway program, pharmacies across the state encourage patients to return unused medications for safe and environmentally friendly disposal.

On February 20, UI College of Pharmacy students hosted a TakeAway awareness event at Walgreen's in Iowa City. They spoke with customers about safe medication disposal, collected unwanted medications, and answered questions.
