In the Spotlight is an initiative to celebrate the incredibly talented people and teams within the college and to facilitate awareness and understanding of the unique individuals who make up the pharmacy family.

This month, we learn about Deb Goodwin, administrative services coordinator in the Division of Pharmaceutics and Translational Therapeutics.

Tell us about your role at the college.

In my role as administrative services coordinator for the Pharmaceutics Division, I support faculty, graduate students, postdocs, visiting scholars, and researchers. My role provides me with quite a wide range of responsibilities from budgeting and account reconciliations, to travel and event coordination, graduate student appointment coordination, award payments, and many other projects. I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with people from so many different cultural backgrounds from all over the world!

What field of work did you begin in?

I’ve typically held positions that were in office administration support primarily because this is what I enjoyed doing. I decided to try something different and held a position as a project coordinator for Miron Construction (the same contractor for our new building!). It was pretty amazing to visit job sites and be part of the building process from start to finish. It was definitely a challenge, but I enjoyed working with the architects, subcontractors and project managers on so many different projects. It was a great learning experience!

Tell us about your photo.

This is a picture of myself, my husband Lonny, and my two grandchildren Kaelyn and Kasen riding on an UTV and having a ball! We like to zoom around town on it and make trips to the park and come back home for ice cream. Lonny and I just love our time with the grandchildren!

What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?

I enjoy sitting outside at a winery with my husband listening to music, bicycling, taking the ATV or UTV out for a ride, road trips with no plan in mind, and finding fun and exciting places to take the grandkids to.

If you had to describe yourself using three words, what would they be?

Adventurous, nature lover, happy

Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?

Hmmm...coffee!

What is your favorite music genre?

Country music and good old classic rock
