Cancer patients could one day benefit from powerful new drugs inspired by an African lily and a sea sponge.

Matthew Witry started the new year with a new title – assistant professor in the Health Services Research (HSR) Division of the D​epartment of Pharmacy Practice and Science (PPS). Dr. Witry received his PharmD (2008) and PhD (2013) in Pharmaceutical Socioeconomics from the college.

Seven College of Pharmacy graduate students will culminate their programs of study in December.

 On November 13 – 17, two students in the Graduate Program in Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences and their advisor traveled to Washington D.C.

Dr. Nicole Brogden, an associate in the UI College of Pharmacy, has received a statewide Women of Innovation award in the category of Research Innovation and Leadership.

Two College of Pharmacy graduate students and a professor were recognized at the 2013 American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Annual Meeting and Exposition, held Nov. 10-14 in San Antonio, Texas.

A team of researchers at the University of Iowa has created a bio patch to regrow missing or damaged bone. The College of Pharmacy’s Sheetal D’Mello is a joint first author on the paper, and Bighley professor Aliasger Salem is a co-corresponding author.

The College of Pharmacy has met its goal: More than 60 percent of faculty and staff members in the college have financially invested in the University of Iowa so far this fiscal year.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, Gov. Terry Branstad, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, and Board of Regents President Bruce Rastetter toured the College of Pharmacy.
