Dr. DJ Murry and five students from the Division of Pharmaceutics & Translational Therapeutics attended the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology Therapeutics (ASCPT) Annual Meeting 2013 in Indianapolis, IN, from March 6-9. One of Professor Murry’s students, Xiaofeng Wang, presented a poster at the meeting. Other students who attended were: Rowan AlEjielat, Manar Al-Ghabeish, Amal Ayyoub, and Ana Ferreira.

Maureen Donovan, PhD, received an award from the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology and Education (NIPTE) as part of an FDA U01 project. Her proposal “Pediatric Nasal Dosage Forms: In Vitro Characterization of Intranasal Deposition Patterns in Children for Optimal Delivery and Performance” was chosen by the FDA in the Open Proposals review area.

Representatives from the College of Pharmacy attended the American Pharmacists Association Annual Meeting and Exposition in Los Angeles, March 1-4.

Dr. Lawrence Fleckenstein co-authored a paper published in the Malaria Journal 2013.

During the month of February, students from the College of Pharmacy took part in a national competition led by National Consumers League (NCL) to help as many patients as possible.

Sean M. Geary, Caitlin D. Lemke, David M. Lubaroff, and Aliasger K. Salem recently published the paper “Proposed mechanisms of action for prostate cancer vaccines” in Nature Reviews Urology.

Student pharmacists from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy spent their Valentine’s Day providing health screenings and education at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Aliasger Salem, Ph.D. gave a presentation on the “Immunotherapy of Melanoma” at a Melanoma Research Symposium held at The University of Iowa on Jan. 19, 2013.
