The cost of education seems to be at the forefront of the news lately, with pundits, politicians, and parents all weighing in.

The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy recently entered into an agreement with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) to produce “The University of Iowa Teaching Cases.

The American Pharmacists Association members recently elected Matthew Osterhaus, '80 BSPh, FASCP, FAPhA, as President-elect. Osterhaus co-owns and operates Osterhaus Pharmacy in Maquoketa, Iowa. He is an APhA Trustee, serving on the Finance and Government Affairs Committees.

The week of July 16, several fifth and sixth grade girls attended the University of Iowa’s PharmCamp, a program jointly sponsored by the colleges of pharmacy, engineering, and medicine.

William Doucette, PhD, College of Pharmacy professor and head of the division of health services research has been named the recipient of the Deborah K. Veale Professorship in Healthcare Policy. This professorship aims to “actively involve the pharmacy profession in the creation of health care policies that will benefit our practice settings as well as our patients,” according to Debbie Veale.

College of Pharmacy administrators have been compiling data about graduating student placement, and this year’s data highlights a growing trend in pharmacy education.
