Elizabeth Chrischilles, '79 BSPh, '81 MS, '86 PhD, has been appointed the head of the University of Iowa Department of Epidemiology, in the College of Public Health. Her appointment begins July 1, 2017.

Jacob Simmering is a research specialist in the Division of Health Services Research, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science and a data scientist for UI Health Ventures. He takes questions and data to provide insights into health care services, quality, and effectiveness.

When the University of Iowa Graduate College celebrated its commencement on Dec. 16, five College of Pharmacy students were among those recognized. The commencement was held at Hancher Auditorium, and was attended by friends, family, and mentors of the graduates.

Randi Betts is a quality and operational improvement coordinator for University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals (UIP). As part of the quality team, he receives raw materials used in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. The team samples the materials for analysis and hold them in quarantine until approved for use.

Aliasger Salem and George Weiner received a three-year, $600,000 grant from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to develop an improved technique for using nanoparticles in a new type of lymphoma immunotherapy.
