The University of Iowa’s annual Health Sciences Research Week was held the week of April 2. The event, hosted by the Carver College of Medicine, focused on neuroscience and featured several of the field’s leading researchers.

University of Iowa College of Pharmacy joined forces with other University colleges and departments specializing in health sciences for a day of educating lawmakers in Des Moines. The annual Health Sciences Day at the Capitol was held on April 5.
On March 24 and 27, groups of College of Pharmacy students volunteered their time and talents to prepare meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City. The students, part of the Phi Delta Chi organization and the class of 2014, served approximately 30 meals on each of the two days.
Jannet Carmichael (’75 BSPh) was awarded the Distinguished Federal Pharmacist Award during the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting last month. Carmichael was a 2011 recipient of the College of Pharmacy’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
On Tuesday, March 27, representatives from The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy were in attendance at the second annual Hawkeye Caucus Day at the Iowa Capitol. Dean Donald Letendre, faculty, staff, and students were on hand to answer questions posed by legislators, legislative staff, and lobbyists.
Kathy Rinehart, Assistant Dean at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and Chief of Pharmacy at the Iowa City VA Medical Center, will be honored with the Osage Distinguished Alumni Award on March 31.
